Geothermal History in brief
Today many are discovering geothermal heating & cooling and believe that it is a "new" technology. In fact it is nothing new at all! Lord Kelvin developed the heat pump concept way back in 1852! In the 1940's a heat pump was developed by using a freezer capturing the "wasted" heat from the compressor!
Then, with the oil embargo of the 1970's, it spawned a renewed interest in developing energy efficiency, and this was the catalyst that has helped the geothermal industry to be the hottest market for saving your energy dollars today.
In 1978 the first geothermal system for Porter & Heckman was installed in Lapeer county. Since that day over one thousand customers have had geothermal systems installed and serviced by us.
